Dear friends and Robocity fans,
Over the last two years, I've been trying to promote other Robocities from the bottom of my heart - artworks, books, robotics conferences... anything that has the name 'Robocity' or a variant of it as the name or title.
There's no existing trademark for Robocity, I don't want to trademark mine, and I always felt that there is room for many Robocities in this world.
However, recently I received a request by email to buy one of my Robocity domains (the one I use for character blogging - you know, breaking the fourth wall and let people interact with Robocitans, as if they were real) for a robotics festival and conference at a Russian school.
At first, I rejected it: this is *my* Robocity and I don't want to give away any part of it, not even the domain names.
But... I ran another web search and I realized the most important Robocities these days are robotics conferences and schools (like Robocity2030), which I support and I always hope to see more of them, and I know they need more search engine visibility... so today I contacted the guy again and told him I'm up to selling the domain, but that it comes at personal price, so it won't be for $2. He has to give me at least enough to let me buy two domains to replace my current ones.
We'll see how it goes...
For now, just know Robocity will STILL be Robocity, and the Robocitans will always be the Robocitans. I'm only going to change the main name of the city (and the title of my fiction) from "Robocity World" to "(NewName), the Robocity".
Robocitans will still be called Robocitans, plus another word as an alternative. But yeah, nobody touches "Robocitans" as a name for my beloved robo-citizens.
So yeah... I never thought something like this would feel so painful...
But Robocity's been Robocity for 15 years, so no wonders.
Hopefully this will become something good and help you down the road
